2020 Barton Marine Winter Series

EBYMBC are excited to announce that the Barton Marine Winter Series for 2020 will happen in one form or another from June 6th. While we are still in very uncertain times with the current COVID-19 environment, EBYMBC as a Club want to give you all something to look forward to as we know the Barton Marine Winter Series is a highlight on the Wellington winter yachting calendar. The health and safety of our members, volunteers and participants in the Barton Marine Winter Series is of utmost importance and the team have been working hard behind the scenes (as always) to ensure that all precautions are taken to keep everybody safe. For this reason, the 2020 edition of the Barton Marine Winter Series will look slightly different to the past few years. Unless there is a significant change in the COVID-19 situation we will not be having a daily post racing prizegiving (including the bar being closed) or a series prizegiving. However, we will obviously be acknowledging those who top their division, and more importantly there will still be a range of spot prizes (even if we are only racing online)! Currently there are three options being explored (and these may change dependent on Government and YNZ advice) for the Barton Marine Winter Series in 2020: Plan A On the water racing as per “normal” Registration completed online Daily sign on/off process completed online Clubhouse (and changing rooms) closed Plan B On the water racing for dinghies and two-handed racing only for trailer yachts and keelboats Registration completed online Daily sign on/off process completed online Clubhouse (and changing rooms) closed Plan C Racing only on Virtual Regatta Registration completed online We are obviously hopeful that we will be able to run Plan A, but wanted to get this communication out to you and let you know that we are keen to run some sort of yacht racing for the Barton Marine Winter Series in 2020.
