Plans for the launch of our Centenary celebrations over Labour Weekend are coming along apace, and the team are working hard to make it one to remember. As well as the events that have already been advertised (Classic Boat race, Old Salts Day and Opening Day), it is looking like we will have a great selection of old movies from in and around the Club and a Movie night is being added to the agenda on the Friday night. If you have any video footage that may be of interest, please let us know.

Souvenir tankards and clothing have been sourced and more details on what’s available and how to order will be provided very soon.

However, we still need your help.

The committee is looking for material relating to the club to be part of an exhibition in the clubhouse over Labour weekend. We are particularly keen to see curios with a direct relationship to the club and its members over the whole period of our history, so if you have any of the below you are willing to temporarily share, or can think of anything else of interest. These are the sorts of things:

  • Club or championship pennants

  • Campaign/event ribbons and badges

  • T shirts and other clothing

  • Boat hardware (homemade or now out of date, or up to the minute blocks, cleats, spars, rope, sails, etc)

  • Trophies

  • Photographs

  • Scrapbooks

  • Souvenirs

  • Boat models

  • Boat plans

All material will be kept on site, which will be locked when unattended. A register will be kept of all loans, and receipts will be given for those who require them. Items can be returned to owners at any stage, so long as the Club is advised and the register is updated.

If you would like to help and/or have any questions please contact Jane Thomassen by email to comms@ebymbc.org.nz to talk about it. Please do not bring anything to Club just yet as we need to finalise logistics for collecting and storing items until Labour weekend
